First one, then the other.
Each one at his place, with his own language,
his own universe.
Time of isolation, then time of observation.
Life force contained, fragile silences,
Between shadows and lights,
Between absence and presence,
The interiority of the dancers,
Aims to be strong but gives way in
The approach, the confrontation,
To try to find
One common, unique expression,
And shorted-lived, unusual,
A dance.
Fundamental production of the company, Eskemm, meaning “exchange” in Breton, it’s above all, the meeting between Fadil KASRI, Hip-Hop dancer and Karine LE BRIS, Contemporary dancer. Both committed artistically in an open minded approach and research, this creation is an exploring place: to find how to joint two dancing techniques with their proper gestures, own dynamics, to draw a common space, to give and to receive, to share, to take over a material.
Eskemm is to observe the progress of the meeting between two people, who are observing, confronting, running away from each other, then, they create a fragile, feverish corporal dialogue.
The exchange is building itself step by step, the words are becoming sentences, and shyness left its place to complicity, giving evidence of the birth of a dance.
At the same time intimist and generous, this production is enriched by the presence of the singer and Celtic harpist, Maela LE BADEZET, her musical universe alternating or melting itself with the electronic music. |
